Prepare a bulk SMS pilot with audience checks, sample-message costing, duplicate protection, delivery reports and a working landing page.

A bulk SMS campaign should start with a permitted audience and a useful message. The number uploaded is not the same as the number delivered, and delivery is not the same as a qualified enquiry. Use a small, reviewable pilot before choosing a larger volume.

Imagine a fictional training centre sending an agreed course reminder. It needs accurate dates, a relevant link and a way to handle replies or follow-up. The same preparation principles apply when connecting a business website to an SMS API.

Prepare recipients and message purpose

Record why each recipient may be contacted and remove duplicates, stale numbers and suppressed contacts. Separate a requested service reminder from promotion. Confirm current sender, template, DLT and route requirements with your provider where applicable. Keep a named person responsible for approving the audience and text.

Estimate the actual message cost

Give the provider the exact proposed English and Hindi text, including variables and links. SMS encoding and segmentation can change the billable count; do not budget from uploaded contacts alone. Ask how failed attempts, taxes and any platform charges are treated in that specific account.

Make sends traceable and repeat-safe

Store a campaign identifier, intended recipient and provider message identifier with appropriate access controls. Define what happens if an API request times out. Blindly repeating a request can create duplicates. Validate provider callbacks and process repeated events safely before allowing reports to change business records.

Read reports without inflating results

Compare attempted, provider-accepted, delivered and failed counts. Twilio documents asynchronous message status callbacks, illustrating why submission and later delivery are separate events. Investigate failures before expanding the batch. Use the landing-page enquiry record to measure customer action rather than assuming every delivered message was read.

Test the complete journey

Use approved internal numbers to review text, links, language and the destination form. Then set a limited authorized pilot and an owner for enquiries and contact preferences. Bring the sample text and workflow to KARODIAL for an SMS integration discussion. Provider approval and usage costs must be agreed separately.
